June Regents Updates: Day Scorer Selection, Non-Secure Material Deliveries, Schedule Students, Test Coordinator Information Sessions//See Assessment Page for Additional Information//
Day Scorer Selection: If your school is administering Algebra 2/Trigonometry, Chemistry, Earth Science, Geometry, Living Environment, Physics, or US History exams in June, you must assign school staff to score exams and to serve as organizational team members at designated scoring sites by May 30. To make these assignments and to view your school’s scorer requirements and scoring site assignments, use the Regents Scoring Assignment tool; note that you may also view your school’s scorer requirements and scoring site assignments here. Per Session Opportunities: Note that Algebra I (Common Core), Algebra 2/Trigonometry, Chemistry, Comprehensive English, Earth Science, English Language Arts (Common Core), Integrated Algebra, Global History, Living Environment, and Physics will be scored partially or fully through per session opportunities that will be funded and managed centrally by the NYCDOE.

CFN 201 has partnered with ASCD to present a 2 day comprehensive leadership conference April 30 & May 1
Topic: Leadership strategies for designing rigorous curriculum and lessons; to ensure all students achieve.
Who should attend? Principal +2. Depending on your school, your +2 can be instructional APs or teachers that will actively engage in the conference and then contribute in building capacity around the workshop strategies in your school. All participants must attend both days.

Brief Overview: School teams (principals + 2) will investigate how leadership strategies relating to literacy, assessment, and equity can influence teacher practice, student engagement, robust learning, and achievement. Throughout the workshops school teams will interact and engage in practical activities to investigate methods of student learning and understandings that are aligned to the common core.

Attendees should bring the following to the conference:**
  • Sample lessons and units - ELA (reading or writing) or mathematics (Algebra)
  • Sample assessment with student work; a variety -not just the best)
  • Copy of Common Core standards for ELA and Mathematics
  • Regents exams, new assessment expectations, other assessments used for the sample lesson/unit topic

LAB-R Memo 2013-2014 SY
All LAB-R eligible new entrants must be tested in fall 2013. LAB-R eligible students must be tested within the first ten days of initial enrollment.

Child Abuse Prevention and Intervention: In accordance with State law and Chancellor's Regulation A-750, all schools are required to designate a liaison for child abuse prevention and intervention. The liaison (listed on your School Consolidated Plan) is required to attend training and provide relevant information related to child abuse prevention and intervention to school staff; the training schedule is available here and attached.
Note that each liaison must attend in the specific district your school is located.

All training sessions (other than the Bronx) are scheduled to run from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm. Each attendee must sign in and will receive a date and site specific agenda as proof of attendance.

NYSED announced the implementation of the Education Data Portal (EDP), now known as the EngageNY Portal, with plans to launch the portal by the end of 2013. No action required by schools at this time.

Regents scoring for August 2013
"Distributed scoring" for August will be based on the formal state requirement where the teacher of record is not allowed to score his or her own students’ exams, rather than the more restrictive NYC requirement of not having a teacher score any exams from his or her own school.
